Hi Rob,

I wish I had known you were looking. We've been trying to hire on some senior engineers over here (http://www.ssaglobal.com) for the past couple months. The things I like the most about my job are the people I work with, the tough problems that I get to solve, and the technology I get to use to solve the problems. Anyway, if things don't work out for you, for some strange reason, get in touch.

God bless,
-Toby Reyelts

The grass is greener on the other side of the fence. I recently changed jobs but in the other direction. I worked at a dot com owned by a major mall retailer. I gave up the positon for more cash and benefits. This fortune 1000 company gave me 3 weeks plus 11 holidays/year. They even offer a pension. -- who the heck offers that these days? Remarkably, the work is about the same. And Yes there is a bureaucracy, that sux, but I have decided to live with it.

Best of luck to you with your new Gig!

Rob,

I know exactly what you were going through, as I did the very same about 2 months ago. After being with my Fortune 50 (Utility) company for three years and hearing the same idiocy from the same people over and over again it was time to pack up and move on. And so did about 12 other senior technologists. It truly is a shame that even after all of that it would appear that this was not some sort of warning for them, instead they continue as they did before.

Even though I don't know you, I wish you the best of luck and I do believe (based on personal experience) that you will be very happy. ;~)

Cheers - Harold

Hey Rob,

I wish you well in your new position. You've contributed much during your stay and we'll miss you.

I can understand the risks of staying at one place too long and not technically growing. And moving into a challenging environment to keep one sharp can be rewarding in the long run.

And I can *definitely* understand about having to deal with overhead that bogs down productivity. I hope management will take your leave as a warning about the risks of burdensome bureaucracy.
