Because of this, I see the Air being appealing only to those who want the latest (not necessarily the greatest) and have the money to drop, and younger folks (15-25) who would have otherwise got a regular Macbook for school.  I guess that&#039;s enough market.</description>

I&#039;m with you on the Macbook Air being a niche product.  I&#039;m just not sure which niche.  I&#039;d go as far as to say that Apple laptops are niche products already, and the AIr doesn&#039;t do much to expand their market.  I&#039;m a sucker for design, which the Air is oozing with, but even the base model (without a SSD) isn&#039;t cheap, especially considering the other Apple products you&#039;ll want to buy to make it truly usable.  You&#039;ll need an Airport Extreme with 802.11n if you ever want to read from a CD or DVD (can you imagine trying to install software from a DVD over wireless?), and you&#039;ll probably need the ethernet adapter, too.
